I’m Shawn, a current Molecular Science and Software Engineering MS student at UC Berkeley. I also got my BA in Immunology from UC Berkeley. I'm a data and software engineer who loves the satisfaction that comes with building things and understanding how stuff works under the hood.

In my time as a data engineer, I developed an application at Stanford which identified precise therapeutic targets from hundreds of thousands of candidate mutations. As a machine learning researcher at Berkeley Artificial Intelligence Research, I helped develop a neural network model for classifying cell types and used it to characterize the gene expression of lung cells infected by SARS-CoV2.

Click on one of the icons below to check out the projects I'm working on!

gpt-flow, an llm flowchart

A flow chart large language model runner, fully deployed over aws with frontend written in typescript/React and a backend written in python using Flask.

veccy, a RAG application

A RAG application that improves semantic search with query prefetching and implements a built in web crawler that preprocesses scraped webpages with an LLM. Written in React js with backend in python FastAPI, pinecone for vector database.

Cell Designer

A web application to design and render 3D models of cells and solve how they interact. Still a WIP.

robotic liquid handler

A project to make a robotic linquid handler attachment for 3D printers. Still a WIP but you can see some of the mechanisms I'm making for the project.

research papers

I am currently a co-author on two papers accepted for publication. Check them out!

video games on itch.io!

I develop video games in my free time, currently working on a tactical rpg project that I'm still developing!
